Theory of Change

From volatile funding to revenue you own.

The concern behind AniCo. Impact is specific: dependence on volatile funding streams will inevitably cause the collapse of community-driven impact. This theory of change is my answer to it: a clear line from what I bring to the work, through what I do, to what actually changes.

01

Who I start with

The work starts with the leaders who are closest to the problem. Community-rooted organizations carry knowledge that no funder, consultant, or outside expert can replicate, and yet the current system structurally subordinates that knowledge to the priorities of whoever controls the capital. I embed with those leaders not to deliver solutions designed elsewhere, but to build alongside them. Co-design, not co-opt.

02

What gets built

What that produces is concrete: multi-year technology roadmaps grounded in organizational reality, functional product features and platforms built and launched through the engagement, user research synthesis, AI ethics and safety frameworks developed with leadership, and published impact metrics drawn from actual product usage. These are not recommendations. They are assets the organization owns when the engagement ends.

03

What changes for the organization

Those assets translate into a specific shift in organizational condition: revenue that does not require a funder’s approval to exist. Diversified income beyond grants and government contracts. Leadership with the capacity and the confidence to evaluate and pursue product opportunities on their own terms. More time on mission, less on managing the next funding cliff.

04

What changes for the sector

At the sector level, the change I'm working toward is a redistribution of power, from the systems that decide which organizations survive toward the communities and leaders doing the work. When impact organizations own revenue-generating assets, they stop asking permission to sustain themselves. That is when community-driven impact stops being fragile.

The goal is not just financially resilient organizations. It is organizations with enough agency to lead on their own terms.
